Bookings and Hire Periods
How do I hire a dress?
Browse our collection, select your size and event date, then complete your booking online. Your dress is reserved once payment has been completed and you receive confirmation.
How long is the standard hire period?
Our standard rental period is four days, including your collection and return dates. Your confirmed dates will appear in your booking details.
How far in advance should I book?
We recommend booking as early as possible, especially for weekends, school formals and popular event dates. Each dress and size is available in limited quantities.
Can I collect my dress early?
Early collection may be available up to two days before your event by arrangement. Collecting early does not change your agreed return date.
Can I extend my hire period?
Please contact us before booking if you need the dress for longer than four days. Extensions depend on availability and may include an additional fee.
Can I change my event date?
Bookings may be moved once when requested more than 14 days before the original event date, subject to dress availability. Please contact us as soon as your plans change.
Sizing and Try-Ons
How do I choose the correct size?
Check the size and fit information on the individual product page before booking. Some dresses have stretch or adjustable features, while others run small or have no stretch.
We recommend comparing your measurements with the size guide rather than relying only on the label size.
Are the sizes shown in Australian sizing?
Each listing displays the designer’s labelled size and our recommended Australian size where applicable. For example, a dress may be listed as “AU 8 / S.”
Can I try on a dress before booking?
Yes. Try-ons are available by appointment in Diamond Creek, Melbourne. Use our Contact page to request an appointment and tell us which dresses and sizes you would like to try.
Does a try-on appointment reserve the dress?
No. A dress remains available for other customers until a paid booking has been completed. If you have a popular event date, we recommend booking promptly after your appointment.
What happens if the dress does not fit?
Sizing information is provided on each product page, and try-ons are available before booking. A sizing issue is not considered a garment fault when the product information is accurate.
Please contact us promptly if your dress does not fit. If another suitable dress is available, we may be able to help, but replacements cannot be guaranteed.
Collection and Returns
Where do I collect my dress?
Orders are collected from Diamond Creek, Melbourne. The full collection address and instructions will be provided after your booking has been confirmed.
Do you offer delivery?
Local delivery may be available for an additional fee and must be arranged in advance. Contact us before booking to check availability for your location and event date.
Do you offer postage?
Hire Her Wardrobe currently operates through local collection and return. Australia-wide postage is planned for the future.
When must I return my dress?
Your dress must be returned by the time stated in your booking confirmation, generally by 9 pm on the agreed return date.
How do I return my dress?
Return the dress to our Diamond Creek location using the instructions supplied with your booking. A secure return box may be available when an in-person handover cannot be arranged.
What happens if I return my dress late?
Contact us immediately if you think your return will be late. Late returns can affect the next customer’s booking and may result in a reasonable late fee or additional loss being charged under our Hire Terms.
Cleaning and Garment Care
Is cleaning included?
Yes. Standard professional cleaning is included in your hire price.
Should I wash the dress before returning it?
No. Please do not wash, dry-clean, iron, steam or spot-clean the garment yourself. Return it in its worn condition and we will arrange professional cleaning.
What should I do if I spill something on the dress?
Do not attempt to treat the stain yourself. Contact us as soon as possible and tell us what happened so the garment can receive the correct professional treatment.
Can I wear fake tan or body makeup?
Please take care when wearing fake tan, body makeup, perfume or products that may transfer onto the garment. Standard cleaning is included, but specialist cleaning may be charged if staining requires additional treatment.
Damage, Loss and Rental Bonds
Is a rental bond required?
A refundable rental bond may apply to your booking. If required, the amount will be displayed at checkout.
The bond is generally returned within five business days after the garment has been returned and inspected, less any documented late, damage, loss or specialist cleaning costs.
What happens if the dress is damaged?
Please contact us immediately if the garment is damaged. Fair wear from normal use will not be charged.
You may be responsible for reasonable specialist cleaning or repair costs when damage occurs during your hire. If the garment cannot be repaired, a reasonable replacement cost may apply.
What happens if the dress is lost or stolen?
You are responsible for the garment throughout the hire period. If it is lost, stolen or not returned, you may be charged a reasonable replacement amount based on the garment’s value, age and condition.
Can I alter the dress?
No. Garments must not be cut, sewn, permanently altered or modified. Please contact us before using temporary fashion tape or similar products that may leave residue or damage the fabric.
